EVENT: Queen of the Nile Showing Comes to Utica Library, NY

“On Saturday, Nov. 10 at noon, the Utica Public Library will host a special one-time screening of the 1963 epic starring Elizabeth Taylor as the Queen of the Nile.

The film is presented in collaboration with MWPAI’s exhibit, Shadow of the Sphinx: Ancient Egypt and Its Influence, which closes Nov. 25.

This screen classic received 9 Academy Award nominations and won 4, including Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design, and Best Cinematography.  Lavish, colorful, and opulent, the film made a screen icon of 31 year old Elizabeth Taylor.

Due to the length of the film (4 hours) and the starting time, the library is making special arrangements including an intermission, more substantial refreshments, and an adjoining room where patrons can stretch their legs while still hearing and seeing the film. There will be drawings for free prizes after the screening.

Here’s a rare opportunity to see this monumental epic on the big screen.  The film is free to the public and is rated G” via Madison County Courier.

Call the library at 735-2279 for more information.
