“The Penn Museum in Philadelphia has a permanent Egyptian installation divided into two sections – the Sphinx Gallery and the Mummies Gallery. Its collection of Ancient Egyptian artifacts – weighing in at an impressive 42,000 objects – is a visual history of an era that died a very, very long time ago. But it’s the Artifact Lab, a room tucked away behind the museum’s third floor Special Exhibitions Gallery, that is arguably the most intriguing aspect to the Penn.
